Metta Journeys' Inaugural Trip!

The Cause:
For Metta Journeys' inaugural trip, we partnered with Women
for Women International (WFWI), which reaches out to women survivors of war and gives them the tools and finances they need to start rebuilding their lives. Through WFWI, one can sponsor a woman from a conflict or post-conflict environment (a "sister") for a year by sending her funds and letters of encouragement. All of our 21 trip participants made a commitment to sponsor one or more Rwandan women, and Metta Journeys took the participants to meet their new sisters.
  I was one of the first to meet my two sisters. Each of them had a young child in their arms. They were beaming as they hurriedly made their way to me. As excited as we were, there was awkwardness at first. You want to know them and hear their story and share what you can about yourself. You are looking for the common ground that always exists in one way or another. I learned that one of my sisters is a single mother. I am a single mother, too.

Trip Highlights:
